Running a Pocket Query


Pocket Queries are a Premium Membership feature at Geocaching.com

From you "Account Page", Select "Build Pocket Query"

Click the "Create a new query" link.

Give the Pocket Query a name. (examples: City, zip code, state, or date)
Do not select a DAY at this time

You may choose how many times the query runs at this time.

Enter the number of caches you want to return. 500 Caches is the limit. You can select the types of caches you want to return. Any type will choose all types of caches. Choosing Selected types will give you the option of filtering out the caches you wish to avoid.

Select the options you would like returned. If you are wanting to hunt caches that you have not found, and is active. Selecting "I own" and "Is not active" is a great way to make a gpx file of the caches you need to do maintenance on.

Next, choose your Terrain / Difficulty levels.

Next, choose where you wish to set you pocket query up for.

Holding the control button down will allow you to select multiple states. Not choosing anything will run out from you center point for the distance you choose.

From Origins: You can center you pocket query from you home coordinates. (You can update your home coordinates from your "My Accout" Page under "Search Options". You can center your PQ from a cache using the GC number. You can center your PQ from a zip code. You can center from coordinates

Next, you can choose when the caches were placed or do nothing in this section.

Next, you can set your pocket query to include or exclude attributes in your search. Perhaps you just want to return caches that do not require you to rock climb. You also have to take into consideration, that no everyone uses attributes.

Once you have all your information, click "Submit Information"

Click "preview the search" to see the results of you pocket query.

If your search is sufficient, click edit and return to the pocket query page. If you return zero records, click edit and go through all the steps to see what is working against eachother.

Select a day for the Pocket Query to run.

Scroll down to the end of the pocket query page and click "Submit information".

Congratulations, you just ran a Pocket Query!
